Sugiura
Hierarchy
The East
The RoyaltyA very matriarchal society, the one who controls the most power is the Queen. The current Queen is also the current "Queen of the Sugiura," who is a sort-of figurehead in inter-dimensional relations (the King of the West could not hold negotiations with the Soul Society on behalf of the Sugiura for example). The King normally handles all military affairs while the Queen handles public affairs. If someone marries into the Royal Family, they are given noble status.

The Main ForcesThe East's main "generals" are referred to by a position within the Twelve Level Cap and Rank System (冠位十二階 Kan'i Jūnikai). This, adopted by Japan in 603 CE, has survived the time from its installation in the Hierarchy. A "category" is prefixed by either Dai- or Shō-. Each category has a higher power over the one beneath it, but the Dai- has more power over the Shō-. For example, the Shōtoku can give orders to the Daijin, but the Daitoku can override the Shōtoku's order.

The West
The RoyaltyThe West's most powerful is the King. The Queen may hold equal power, but the King (right now) has the final say-so. It, like the East, has a familial determination over who gets the throne next. Whoever gains the next throne first (say the Queen dies and someone takes her place), automatically gains the "final say-so" for the next reign. If someone marries into the Royal Family, they are given noble status.

Queen of the West: It is a mystery.

Other Royalty: Advisor to the West: *Special Permission Only*
Guardian of the West: *Special Permission Only*
The Main ForcesThe West, as fitting with its European Tradition, has "Knights" as its commanding-generals. Knights are strong warriors, and none are above one another. This creates a large base in the pyramidal hierarchy that leads to the Guardian of the West, who acts as the leader of the Knights. Knights have "Squires" who are soldiers who serve directly under them. Most Squires are chosen by the Knights, but some are placed there by the royal family or the Guardian of the West.

The North
The RoyaltyRuled by the Ares of the North, there is no familial claim to the throne. The next Ares is appointed by the Archiereus, whose only duty is that. If the next ruler is female, then they are appointed the Aphrodite of the North. Their spouse or consort is given the other title in either case. The Ares has complete control over the North (save for appointing the next Ares or Aphrodite of course), creating a strong dictatorship. If someone marries into the Royal Family, they are not given noble status unless they are marrying the Ares or Aphrodite.

The Main ForcesThe North's Generals are closer to political figureheads than the other kingdoms'. The "Children of Ares," as they're called, are strong warriors who aren't sent out to the front-lines much. They may deploy on their own, but like Knights there isn't a hierarchical structure within the Children of Ares. Unlike the Knights, there aren't Squires. This is because the Children of Ares are meant to be "the strength of a Knight and his Squire in one being."

The South
The RoyaltyA very open and almost democratic society, the Emperor of the South holds only a lot power on his own. However, the power of charisma allows the Emperor to easily sway the other politicians in the South to his ways of thinking. Although there is a familial hierarchy in the South—there is also an interest provision that allows the people of the South to elect a new Emperor if they feel the current one is unfit.

The Main ForcesAlthough there are only 5 major generals in the Southern military, they each have vassals called Mansions. These are named after the Four Symbols and Twenty-Eight Mansions, which are part of Chinese constellations. Each of them is incredibly strong and wears something to signify what symbol they are. Mansions only wear the color of what general they serve.
