| THE REBIRTH ARC
Hollows haven't always despised Shinigami. This fact is known to a very small group of people still living, as most are taught or simply assume that Hollows have always naturally hated Shinigami and humans. This natural hatred didn't come about until about 28,000 years ago, before the Hollows, and frankly all of Hueco Mundo, existed as they do today. The cause of this major rift between the two spiritual races was a great cataclysm in Hueco Mundo which caused the downfall of the great Hollow empire of old.
To tell this tale, one must first be taught about the original Hollow. Similar to the evolution of species on Earth, the original Hollow was not intelligent and it wasn't animalistic. The first Hollow to ever be born in Hueco Mundo was a simple plant seed, though it was rather large. This basketball-sized seed began its life within the earth of Hueco Mundo, and as time went on the seed absorbed the dense reishi particles around it and began to grow. Eventually, the seed had sprouted into a full fledged tree and it only continued to grow more and more. Its branches soared high into the sky and its roots spread out for many miles. The tree possessed so much reishi it actually jump started "plant" growth in Hueco Mundo, and due to the roots spreading out for hundreds of miles, a seemingly endless, lush forest was formed.
Eventually, the tree possessed so much reishi that it began to actually give birth to spiritual entities known as Vasto Lordes that possessed extreme power. Every single member of this species was stronger than an average modern-day Gotei 13 captain. However, they were peaceful. They formed a society and worshipped the tree as a god, calling it the Hallow Tree. In exchange for being worshipped, the tree granted them near-unlimited power and spread its roots even further. Despite making peace with the scattered Shinigami in Soul Society and other races of spiritual beings, this race of essentially super-Hollows were feared.
Every race feared what would happen should the Vasto Lordes ever become aggressive, so they formulated a plan to put the possible threat before anything could happen. Under the leadership of a particularly powerful Shinigami, nearly every spiritual race united under a single banner and began their assault upon Hueco Mundo. Within minutes the coalition had suffered from extreme losses, but they shot through the enemy ranks with only one goal in mind: Destroy the Hallow Tree. Despite heavy opposition and a near 0% success rate, they were actually successful in their objective and were able to destroy the Hollow God, albeit barely. Afterwards, the remaining forces immediately retreated from Hueco Mundo, which within days became the barren wasteland it is now as the density of spiritual particles decreased drammatically. This was the story passed down in Soul Society and Hueco Mundo for thousands of years until it was eventually lost in the annals of history......
However, there still exists one being who remembers the story. This man, this Arrancar, is the current Cero Espada Nagato Tengan. For over twenty thousand years this Arrancar searched for a way to revive the God of Hollows, though with no luck.....until recently, that is. Upon discovering the Negal Ruins, Nagato was able to decipher the ancient scriptures and murals inside until he discovered a secret: the Negal Ruins were once a temple dedicated to the Hallow Tree, and within the deepest catacombs existed an ancient artifact cut off from the rest of Hueco Mundo: a single seed. Now, Nagato wants to use this seed to regrow the Original Hollow and use its power to destroy all of Soul Society itself and empower the Hollow race as a whole. Will he be successful, or will he be stopped in time.....? | |
